My work is my passion, and
helping people reach their goals and objectives is what gives me the most inspiration in life. The rewards I receive
from watching people grow in self awareness and as they reach their personal, educational and professional goals are
more than I can count. It is for this reason that I have chosen the behavioral sciences as my degree of study, and why I have
chosen to pursue my PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (ABD January 2009). I plan to devote my life to
the study of psychology in the workplace, and will continue to research it (please see the Current Events section
of this site).
I currently serve as an Adjunct Instructor for DeVry University,
Chamberlain School of Nursing, Kaplan University, University of Phoenix and Barstow Community College (please see the
CV section of this site). My heart lies in education and teaching diverse groups across all levels. I see the
on-line teaching medium as the wave of the future, and I am so excited to be a part of this new and changing industry.
Not only does it allow me to make a living, but I can do so in a very rewarding and life enhancing way.
I have
gained my years of training and management experience working in the business world, specifically in the home building
and construction industry. In addition, I also work as a consultant to the home building industry in the capacity
of a researcher and author. I serve on the Board of the Southern California Purchasing Council, and also serve
as Editor In Chief and author of their quarterly newsletter. In addition, I am a member of the Gerson Lehrman Group (www.glgroup.com) as well as the McGraw Hill- Vista / Society of Industry Leaders
(www.societyofindustryleaders.com), and serve as a consultant and researcher within their groups of distinguished
consultants (rating in the top 20% of GLG consultants). Having cut my teeth in the home building industry,
I find this to be a wonderful group of intelligent and talented people with which to be involved, and understanding the trends
of this industry is something I enjoy very much.
I am also a trained psychologist in the theory of career
counseling and psychological coaching, having memberships in The Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists
(SIOP - www.siop.org), The Society for the Teaching if Psychology (STP - www.teachpsych.org ) and Cambridge Who's Who - Distinguished Women in Business ( www.cambridgewhoswho.com ). My focus of research in my field is around self-efficacy and career development,
and how guided imagery can help improve self-efficacy levels in college graudates. My work as a Consultant and Executive Coach
/ Adviser is also another way I gain great joy. Here
I can apply the methods of the behavioral sciences that I love so much, and in doing so I have discovered that working with
executive level clients has not only given me the opportunity to see them reach great heights and satisfaction in their careers,
but I have also learned more from these clients that I can possibly mention in terms of myself and research in the field.
This new and evolving level of coaching is so exciting and is one of the things that gets me out of bed every day, and I am
very excited to be a part of it!
Last, but far from least, I serve as President,
Executive Driector and Founder of Smooth Transition, Inc. (www.smoothtransitioninc.com), working with at-risk teens in the Inland Empire area vocationally and educationally. This work also
gives me the opportunity to apply the theories and concepts of I/O Psychology and do further research on self-efficacy and
guided imagery techniques. This is especially important work for me because many of these teens just need a chance and an
opportunity to do well and transition out of the system successfully. Without this, the statistics are bleak and their
chances slim for most of these kids, and most till repeat the cycle and return their own children into the system. We
work hard to do our part to bring hope and chance to this at risk population and improve the community in and around
the Inland Empire. Please visit our website if you would like to get involved and serve in the community at www.smoothtransitioninc.com .
